BRCA+ BABES
Meet our BB’s – our BRCA+ Babes are they key people who run our meetups across the country. They are VIBBs (Very Important BRCA Buds), and some have been involved with BRCA+ Chat from day one. All at different stages of their journey, and all FAB!
These are socials, not Peer Support Groups, although we often find they are supportive and therapeutic, the aim is more about fun and friendships, banter and Buddies. So, brunch, walks, aerial yoga, paddle boarding, nights out, meet ups in giant inflatable boobs…
Find the latest meetups in your local city and contact us for more info!

BRISTOL
Harriet
Hi I’m Harri! I found out in 2019 that I had a BRCA1 mutation, and have decided to opt for a preventative double mastectomy which I am in the slow process of planning! I love cats (if you couldn’t tell!) and sharing my love of nature and science.
I spent so long after the mutation diagnosis trying to find a community to connect with, and I’m so glad I eventually found BRCA chat! It is full of kind, uplifting people, and it is so great to connect with others who understand what you are going through! I’m super excited to be a part of this community and support others as they navigate their mutation journeys ☺️

BRISTOL
Lauren
Hi, I’m Lauren, I’m BRCA2 positive and I’ve just started a Bristol meet up with Harri 🙂
My mum is a BRCA2 carrier, and had a hysterectomy and double mastectomy after being diagnosed with Ovarian and Breast cancer.
I’ve opted for high risk screening for the past 7 years, and to be honest, I’m still figuring things out! I’m currently on the protector study under surveillance and hope to have fallopian tube surgery in the next few years.
The gene can feel isolating at times, and finding BRCA chat has already made me feel better connected and supported! I want to grow a community in Bristol to help give that back to other people.’

EDINBURGH
Katarina
-BRCA1
-Preventative mastectomy November 2025
-Nipple sparing mastectomy with implants over the muscle
Hello, I’m Kat and I am a BRCA+ Babe for Scotland, based in Edinburgh, although I originally come from Slovakia. I love hiking and dancing salsa & bachata. I hope I get to meet some of you soon!

ESSEX
Lauren
Hey, I’m Lauren and I have the BRCA 1 gene mutation.
I had a preventative double mastectomy and reconstruction in November 2024, and found out after surgery that there was breast cancer found in my right breast. I am now awaiting a Salpingectomy surgery to help reduce my risk of ovarian cancer as part of the Protector trial.
Being diagnosed with a gene alteration can feel isolating and scary. I’m here to help anyone navigating this tough time and to also be part of a special community.
I can’t wait to meet more of you and to help raise awareness.

EXETER
Molly
Hi, I’m Molly. BRCA1 positive and mum to a very energetic toddler! I’m in the midst of planning for my mastectomy which will hopefully take place in 2026.
I found BRCA+ Chat when I was newly diagnosed in 2022 and it’s been a lifeline. I’m so excited to be joining as a BRCA+ Babe and meeting some of our wonderful community in and around Exeter.

LEEDS
Alison
Hi, I’m Alison and I have a BRCA1 alteration. I had both a preventative hysterectomy and mastectomy back in 2020 and am now juggling busy mum life, work and menopause! Haha.
I love holidays in the sun, making memories with my loved ones, and all things Sheffield Wednesday FC.
Being a BRCA+ Babe allows me to meet new people, share my experiences to support others and generally give a bit back to the charity that helped me so much on my journey.
Can’t wait to meet you all!

LINCOLN
Casey
Hey, I’m Casey! I found out in 2023 I have the BRCA1 alteration and shortly after had a preventative double mastectomy, and I’m currently on the waitlist for the PROTECTOR study to have a Salpingectomy.
When I came across BRCA+ Chat and had my first social, for the first time since finding out about the gene, I felt I had a safe space to talk to likeminded people, going through similar experiences and to realise that how I was feeling was completely “normal”; so to be able to give back to this amazing charity and to host local events and create a community that can help support others in feeling less alone and to get everything off our chests (Pun fully intended!) is an incredible opportunity and one I hope you’ll become a part of…I hope to meet you soon! ♡

LONDON
Maria
I’m Maria and I am a BRCA+ Babe for London! I was diagnosed with the BRCA2 mutation in July 2021, following my dad’s breast cancer diagnosis the year before. Leading up to (and of course, after!) my double mastectomy in March 2024, BRCA+ Chat was such a valuable source of information and support.
I believe that knowledge is power, so I’m truly grateful that I had an opportunity to learn about the gene and do something about it. I hope that our socials and meet ups continue to be a safe and special space for those going through similar circumstances, whatever stage they are at during their journey.

LONDON
Lottie
Hi! I’m Lottie, BRCA 2 mutation and based in West London. Maria and I have taken over the lovely London group that Katie established, and we’re so excited to expand it even further. BRCA+ Chat has helped me build bonds that extend further than just genes, and I have made some amazing friends along the way.
I found out about my BRCA mutation in 2019 and, until now, have opted for high-risk screening. My next step is to have a risk-reducing mastectomy, which I’m planning within the next couple of years.
Fun fact about me: a giraffe once burped in my face!

MANCHESTER/STOCKPORT/EAST CHESHIRE
Sasha
I’m Sasha and I am a BRCA+ Babe for Manchester/Stockport/East Cheshire! I was informed I’m a BRCA1 mutation carrier in July 2019, following my sister’s breast cancer diagnosis aged just 30 the year before. I lost my poor sister to this potentially devastating disease 2.5 years later, pregnant with my third baby (my sunshine little boy, in this pic!).
Over the hill with my surgeries by this point, I’m all for sharing experiences and learning/supporting/nurturing other ladies going through similar journeys. Can’t wait to organise my first few events for local BRCA+ chatters – likely weaving in my passion for the performing arts here and there! X

NEWCASTLE
Amy
Hi, I’m Amy 🙂 I’m a mum and a breast cancer survivor with the BRCA1 mutation.
My breast cancer was picked up by my annual surveillance long before I’d have found it myself. I had a double mastectomy with DIEP in June 2025 after finishing my cancer treatment and, having recently turned 40, I’m now waiting to understand my options for protecting myself against ovarian cancer.
I don’t know what I’d have done without BRCA+ Chat when I found out I had BRCA, it made me feel so much less alone and scared, and has continued to provide me with invaluable support! Being a BRCA+ Babe allows me to give something back and help others navigate this journey, wherever they are on it.

NOTTINGHAM
Alex
Hey! I’m Alex, I’m a two-time breast cancer survivor with a BRCA2 genetic mutation. I’m a glass-half-full kinda girl. I love travelling, living life to the full and doing fun stuff with my kids. By day, I’m dedicated to launching my own business focused on designing post-surgery bras for breast cancer survivors.
As a BRCA2 carrier, I had already decided I wanted preventative surgery before I discovered that I had breast cancer. I love what Christen is doing with the BRCA CHAT charity and therefore happily volunteered to be a BRCA Chat babe and facilitate local meet-ups. Because who doesn’t love a social soirée?

OXFORD
Husna
I’m Husna. I live just outside Oxford in a town called Witney. I discovered I had BRCA 2 in Nov 24. I had both oophorectomy and double mastectomy in the following year.
I love being part of this charity, especially as my mother passed away when I was very young and I don’t know of anyone else who has the genetic alteration in my family.
Discovering I had BRCA 2 prompted me to get on with things I have always wanted to do, like learning to play piano and take up martial arts.
I have really enjoyed the online peer support groups and am looking forward to meeting people in real life.

PORTSMOUTH
Lara
Hiya, I’m Lara, I’ve known about my BRCA1 gene mutation for 18 years. I first had a preventive mastectomy 13 years ago, followed by numerous breast implants (that didn’t like me) which led to finally having a successful implant removal with DIEP and reconstruction in 2024. My journey has often felt lonely until I recently found a wonderful community of people who truly understand at BRCA+ Chat.
I work full time in the NHS and am also a proud mum and wife. When I get a bit of spare time, you’ll usually find me at the theatre or enjoying a peaceful stroll with a caramel latte along the beach.
Can’t wait to see you all soon xxx

SHEFFIELD
May
Hello! I’m May and I’m the BRCA+ Babe for Sheffield. I’m a single mum of two boys and have the BRCA2 mutation. Whilst doing my own reading around BRCA, I realised how unsupported I felt during this journey. I came across BRCA+ Chat and am proud to now be part of the team!
I’m currently taking part in ROCA for ovarian surveillance and am on the waiting list for the Protector study.
I love anything outdoors (can’t escape it in Sheffield!) and I’m looking forward to meeting you all soon! X
