BRCA1 Gene Alteration

Age: 38

Surgery details: DIEP Flap. Preventative mastectomy. Image taken 10 months post-op.

On the wait list for some tweaks and filling along with a discussion around nipples. (recon/tats).

“I chose to have DIEP reconstruction as part of my preventative mastectomy due being a BRCA1 gene mutation carrier.

I wanted to use my own tissue rather than have an implant or go flat and I am really pleased with the results.

 

I will undergo a phase 2 surgery for a few tweaks and nipple construction next year.

 

It has been a long journey but knowing how much my breast cancer risk is now reduced it’s totally worth it.”
