“I’m PALB2, was diagnosed last year after finding a family member had it and told me to get tested, it’s been passed from my father’s side of the family. I decided to go down the double mastectomy and direct to implant route as I didn’t want to have a more complex surgery than a mastectomy was, and the recovery time was quicker which allowed me to get back to work sooner as I’m self employed.

 

I was all kinds of terrified before the op, and sought help from a psychoanalytical hypnotherapist to help me get my head round it and deal with the stress. Now the op is over and recovery is progressing the pressure is off!

 

I’m learning to love my new foobs, and whilst it’s a tough lesson to learn to love yourself all over again, it’s opened up so many new things and many laughs along the way. The foobs are still a novelty and cause much discussion in the pub!”
