BRCA1 Gene Alteration

Image: 15 weeks post-op

Implants: teardrop shaped implants.245cc. Over the muscle.

Surgery details: Preventative double mastectomy, direct-to-implant surgery. Anchor Incisions. Nipples removed.

“In May 2023, I underwent genetic testing because of an offhand comment from a nurse about my family history of breast and ovarian cancers, and tested positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation.
In March 2025, I said bye bye to my breast tissue and underwent a risk-reducing double mastectomy and reconstruction with over the muscle implants. I didn’t like how big my breasts were before my operation, and I’m loving the size of my new ones and how they look. It’s definitely an adjustment but the relief of risk reduction has made it worth it.
I’m so grateful to the lovely team at @brca_chat, my family and friends, as well as all the nurses and surgeons who helped me along the way.”
