BRCA 2 Gene Alteration
Implants: Direct to implant. Size & position unknown.
Surgery details: Double mastectomy as treatment for breast cancer in one breast. Other breast removed to reduce risk. Direct to implant reconstruction, followed by nipple tattoos.
“I had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer in one breast and the BRCA2 gene giving a strong indication that the cancer may reoccur in the other breast.
The surgery and recovery went very well, but as the months passed I felt incomplete. Every time I came out of the shower and glanced in the mirror my chest was bare, like a Barbie doll – no nipples. In swimming pool changing rooms people would look at me as I had no nipples.
The lack of nipples was a constant reminder of my encounter with breast cancer, so I had nipple tattoos. They are brilliant and look 3D. I now feel like a complete woman again.”
